Atlas' Revenge Premiere
Last night was the second ever UCF Digital Media Premier Gala Event for the Visual Language track, where the short film I took part in creating, "Atlas' Revenge," premiered. As of now, the film is not available online in its entirety because of a hopefully successful festival circuit, but hopefully it will be in the near future.
However, we made a short, fake "making of" featurette which can be seen on the semi-official website for the film. Check it out in the link below!

A Snail's Pace
This afternoon I decided to try something that would help refresh my illustration techniques, which - I have to admit - have gotten a bit rusty of late. I wanted a simple composition, cartoony and character-focused, which is something I haven't really done before.
I chose to use Corel Painter X instead of Photoshop for this one, not only to get even more familiar with the software but to give the piece a more painterly look. After about two hours, I had a goofy looking airborne snail.
Hopefully more stuff like this to come soon.

Regarding the Creation of a Blog and Such Things as Objectives
Maybe I can thoroughly irritate any potential visitors with pretentiously long titles like that. Probably a bad plan.
Welcome, potential visitor. Let me begin by saying that I'm not too sure what the point of this post is, exactly. I know why I created this blog - to display pieces of artwork I've deemed suitable for viewing, or pieces I've worked on little enough to not be ashamed of - but this post is not one such post.
Is it taboo to post something worthwhile in the first blog post? I thought so. That's why I'm filling it with these words instead. Dumb, I know. Forgive me for not knowing proper blogging procedure. I've pretty much decided, also, to run this blog simultaneously with a blog at my portfolio website (which you, potential visitor, are welcome to visit): www.richardcarlton.net
I'll try to retroactively keep the two blogs similar, though I'm sure that won't work out at all. Who knows what else I'll add to this. That's why I added "such things" to the blog title: I know, I am a dubious fellow.
Thank you, potential visitor, for potentially visiting and such things. I promise not to make a habit of using run-on entry titles or the phrase "such things." Maybe.
